Today is a bad pain/fatigue kind of day, so while I’m sat here feeling sorry for myself, I got thinking about what I’m going to be packing for my travels. Due to the many, many clothes that I want, no, NEED, to take, suitcase space is limited for cosmetics and skin care items. In order to whittle it down, I’ve created my Desert Island Products list, focusing on skincare. I am very into skin routines. Starting, stopping and changing medications, as well as taking a progesterone based pill means that if I drop the ball even a little with my routine, I tend to break out pretty much instantly. Also, taking 10 minutes out of my evening to do something nice fo myself is really positive mentally. So where to begin?
1. Magnitone Barefaced 2 3D Vibrasonic Cleansing and Toning Brush

I cannot express how much using this product has turned my skincare around. It is ridiculously easy to use and feels really satisfying once done. It’s a completely closed casing, which is brilliant if you’re a clutz like me, not only can you take it into the shower or the bath, but if you drop it into water, you won’t get electrocuted and die. It runs for 60 seconds before turning off, so you don’t over scrub, but it splits the minute into 3 sessions of 20 seconds so that each area of your face gets the perfect cleanse. I could go on, but I’ll pause for now!
2. Deciem The Ordinary Everyday Routine Starter Pack

Okay, so this one isn’t strictly a single product, but it’s a pack, you can’t just choose a single one! So, this includes 5 products:- Squalane Cleanser- Marine Hyaluronics- Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%- Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA- Granactive Retinoid 2%
So, using these products in this order gives you amazingly cleansed and moisturised skin. I have to be honest, I didn’t know what half of these products were when I ordered them, but even after a few days of doing the routine AM and PM, my skin feels the best that it has for so long. The Retinoid is for reduction of fine lines, and my lines are looking finer by the day, I swear. Each of the products are vegan, cruelty-free, nut free, silicone free, gluten free and alcohol free. Ticks all my boxes!
3. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

Okay, so not only is this pink, but it smells amazing! This spray is brilliant for refreshing your face after makeup, during the day, whilst travelling or just while you’re in bed and fancy some aromatherapy. It hydrates you just as much as it relaxes you, so it’s a 10 from me! Plus, this is a desert island list, and where better to use this product?
4. Witch Naturally Clear Blemish Stick

This is the cheapest item on the list, coming in at under £2! Although I do my best to combat the spots, sometimes they fight right back. Witch Stick is the best that I have found for putting red zits, white heads, black heads and those weird lumps that just kind of sit there (what are those about anyway?) into their rightful place, i.e. off my face! The witch hazel in the stick smells clean, and soothes in a natural way without that chemical-burn feel that some other products do. Plus, the actual design of the product makes it much more effective than other gels or balms. There’s no touching your skin and adding bacteria to the affected area. Witch really though this through!
5. Lush Don’t Look At Me Fresh Face Mask

Gooey, bluey and oh so good for you-ey! This face mask contains ground rice and lemon juice so provides a wonderful gentle exfoliation, alongside the soothing Murumuru butter and silken tofu mixed in. It’s such a go to for a mid-week cleanse. You can feel your pores getting cleaner! As if it needed more to love it for, it’s vegan, cruelty free and part of Lush’s Black Pot scheme. This means that if you take 5 pots back to Lush, you can get a fresh face mask for free (this bad boy included). What are you waiting for? It never feels like a lot in a pot, but a little goes a long way with this mask.

So, there we have it! My picks for the absolute essentials for skin care routines and what I love them for. My skin is definitely not perfect, but anyone taking pain medication and anti-depressants, as well as the pill, knows that controlling your face erruptions is no mean feat. These are just tools for trying my best and soothing what hurts. Scrub on! Let me know in the comments what your favourite products are!
